GUEST: My mother.
Wow.
Probably this picture was taken in the early '40s.
Dad was gone for four years in the Second World War, Europe.
Ended up as an aide to Eisenhower, was part of the Corps of Engineers.
And somewhere along the way, he had this commissioned, but I don't know exactly where he commissioned it.
I, I assumed it was near Naples, Italy.
APPRAISER: And you can see that this is exactly her.
GUEST: Absolutely, and the detail is incredible.
APPRAISER: Incredible.
So, I think you're right about Naples.
It's the home-- Italy, the home of... GUEST: Right.
APPRAISER: ...cameo production.
It's made out of, carved out of conch shell.
Almost every cameo I see, they're facing right.
GUEST: Really?
APPRAISER: It's very rare to see one facing left.
The frame, also, is fabulous, with the garland and the ribbon.
With gold being at record-high prices, there's $1,000... GUEST: Wow.
APPRAISER: ...just in gold.
I would say, at auction, probably... $1,500 to $2,000.
GUEST: That's great.
APPRAISER: You're not selling?
GUEST: No.
APPRAISER: For insurance, $3,000.
GUEST: Terrific, that's great to know.
APPRAISER: But I'm telling you, I just... All the years we're doing this... GUEST: (chuckles) APPRAISER: ...never did it match up like this.
